THE STORY GOES...

More than a hundred years ago, there is said to have been a miller.

who processed old rags into paper at the Leuvenumse Beek. He went through all the rags to remove the copper buttons. He saved these up until he had a large chest full. He sold the buttons and used the money to have a house built on the most beautiful hill in the forest, named “Het Roode Koper”.

FROM COUNTRY ESTATE TO HOTEL

The actual history is that in 1912, Count van Limburg-Stirum founded the 'Het Roode Koper' estate, comprising a villa with outbuildings and an English landscape garden. When the Count subsequently became Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, new residents followed in the 1930s and 1940s, including the Patijn family. After the Second World War, the estate, including 2,700 hectares of surrounding forest, was purchased by Natuurmonumenten, which still maintains the Leuvenumse Bos. In 1947, the Van der Werf family became the owners of the estate and designated this beautiful location as a hotel. The estate remains under the family's management to this day.

Protecting local heritage is also among the ambitions of this global hotel and restaurant group. Ambitions to which Het Roode Koper wholeheartedly aligns.

Lid Alliance Gastronomique

The restaurant at Het Roode Koper is led by top chef Dennis van den Beld. Membership in Alliance Gastronomique guarantees a special and unforgettable gastronomic experience for our guests. Surrounded by beautiful nature

Due to the location of our estate, deep in the Veluwe forests, Het Roode Koper maintains close ties with Natuurmonumenten. Together, we ensure that the surrounding forests are accessible to our guests and we protect the wildlife and nature. You can take private walks through the Leuvenumse Bos with our nature guide, Gerrit Rekers. He will tell you all about the flora and fauna and knows the best places to spot wildlife.

Walk across the estate

The estate covers 9 hectares. As soon as you drive up the driveway, you are far away from everyday life. After passing the cattle grid, you see the characteristic villa. A walk across the estate takes you to the rear garden with a beautiful view of the villa. Via the sweet-smelling rose garden, you walk past the heated outdoor swimming pool and via the Polish House to the Coach House, Front House, Riding School House, and finally the horse stables. The tennis court is hidden among the rhododendrons.

In the heart of the Netherlands

Our estate is located in Leuvenum, centrally located in the Netherlands. Thanks to fast connecting roads from the Randstad and all surrounding provinces, it is ideal as a meeting place for families, friends, and business contacts. Additionally, it is very suitable as a base for discovering the rest of the Netherlands.
